David Alexander Tree Care is a family-run arboricultural business based in Bexley, South East London. With more than 15 years of professional experience, David provides a wide range of tree surgery and arboricultural services for domestic and commercial customers.

Meet the Team:
David – Experienced Climbing Arborist
Fully qualified, David has worked professionally in arboriculture for more than 16 years and has built his career around practical, hands-on experience working with trees.
As an experienced climbing arborist, he specialises in technically challenging tree work, including complex dismantling, climbing and crane-assisted tree removal.
Over the years, David has developed particular expertise in working on difficult trees and in challenging urban environments, where careful planning, specialist climbing skills and a thorough understanding of tree structure are essential.
He is known within the London arboricultural industry for his experience with arb cranes and complex crane-assisted tree removals.
David takes a practical approach to every job, considering the individual tree, its surroundings, access to the site and the safest and most appropriate way to carry out the work.
Lexi – Customer Contact & Business Support
Behind the scenes, Lexi is an important part of David Alexander Tree Care.
If you call us, there's a good chance you'll speak to Lexi first. She looks after the work phone, responds to enquiries, communicates with customers and helps organise jobs before passing the relevant information on to David.
Lexi also occasionally works alongside David on site, helping with jobs when needed. Being involved both behind the scenes and occasionally out on the job means she has a good understanding of the work we do and the customers we look after.
As a family-run business, we like our customers to know the people behind the company. From the first phone call through to the work being completed, you'll be dealing directly with our small, friendly team rather than being passed between different departments or call centres.
Specialist Crane-Assisted Tree Work
One of David's particular areas of expertise is crane-assisted tree work.
Using a crane in arboriculture requires specialist knowledge. The climbing arborist needs to understand the structure of the tree, select appropriate sections, assess and estimate loads, use suitable rigging equipment and work closely with the crane operator and ground team.
David has extensive practical experience in this type of work and has undertaken technically demanding crane-assisted removals in challenging urban environments.
Doughty Street London Plane Trees
In February 2025, David was the lead climbing arborist during the high-profile removal of two London Plane trees on Doughty Street in Camden, London.
The operation was a technically demanding urban crane removal and was filmed as part of a documentary project. The documentary was subsequently shown publicly at the 2026 Deutsche Baumpflegetage (German Tree Care Conference)in Augsburg, Germany.
Sharing Knowledge Through Specialist Training
David's practical experience in crane-assisted arboriculture has also led to opportunities to share his knowledge with other professional arborists.
In 2026, David was invited to become one of the assistant instructors on the inaugural Rigging Training Course With Crane, held at MediArb Training in Warwickshire.
The specialist course brought together experienced arboricultural practitioners from the UK with trainers from Formazione 3T in Italy, combining specialist crane and lifting knowledge with the practical requirements of tree work.
The course covered areas including rigging and lifting, slinging, load estimation, lifting accessories, crane operations, signalling and the practical coordination required between the climbing arborist, crane operator and ground team.
David's involvement reflects the practical experience he has developed through many years of working on complex crane-assisted tree operations.
International Arboricultural Training
David's specialist training has also taken him beyond the UK.
David went to Italy for a Rigging with helicopter training course by Formazione 3T, a leading specialist arboricultural training organisation.
Following this experience, he has been invited to return to Italy in 2027, this time to participate in training other arborists.
Specialist Fruit Tree Care
David also has a particular interest and specialist knowledge in fruit tree care and management.
Alongside our wider arboricultural services, David has experience working with fruit trees and understands the different considerations involved in their planting, pruning, development and long-term management.
His experience includes his planning and planting of 'The Otford Heritage Orchard', located in Palace Field at the historic Otford Palace site in the village of Otford, Kent, jointly managed by the Archbishop's Palace Conservation Trust and The Otford Society, who contacted him personally for the work. He has practical experience not only in the care of established fruit trees but also in the planning and planting of an orchard.
We also have our own pomologist, giving us access to specialist knowledge in fruit tree identification, care and management.
